SUMMARY
If you create a table of contents in Microsoft Word for the Macintosh based on heading levels (not with “.c.” codes), and a heading that should be in the table of contents is skipped, locate that heading in the document and check that it meets the following requirements:
- It has a Level # style (Word versions 3.x) or a Heading # style (Word versions 4.0 and later) applied to it.
- The Level or Heading Style selected is within the Level range specified in the Table Of Contents dialog box (if you specified a range).
- The heading is not preceded by more than one page break. If there are two or more consecutive page breaks before the heading, insert a carriage return between the two page breaks.
- The heading does not have the Hidden Text character format applied to it.
- The heading does not appear after a column break on a multiple-page document. If the heading does appear after a break, the heading will be picked up correctly if you insert a carriage return between the page or section break and the heading.
