SUMMARY

To produce the trademark, copyright, and section mark symbols in Microsoft Word with the Bitstream Fontware versions 1.00 or 2.00 fonts, use Fontware to create a font set for ANSI Windows use. This method results in the use of characters in the ANSI character set instead of the IBM Extended Character Set.

After the font files have been generated, start Word and select the new printer driver with the Print Options command. To enter a character, hold down the ALT key and enter the three-digit code from the numeric keypad for the symbol that is desired.

In Word version 5.50, make sure that NUM LOCK is on before holding down the ALT key and entering the three-digit code from the numeric keypad.

The character seen on the screen will not be the same as character that appears in the printout because Word displays the corresponding symbol from the IBM Extended Character Set. At print time, the code will be mapped to the desired character and printed properly.
