SUMMARY

Word’s footnote-layout code prohibits footnotes from two or more different sections (called divisions in Word version 5.0 and earlier) from appearing on one page when the footnotes are formatted to print on the same page. Instead, Word advances to the next page after the first set of footnotes are printed and prints the second or succeeding set on that page.

If the footnotes are formatted to print at the end of the division, they can print on the same page, each set following its respective division.
