MS-DOS

If you run Microsoft Word for DOS version 5.0 on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Vectra computer with an HP mouse, the machine can hang if the mouse cursor touches a window border. This problem occurs if version A.06.02 or earlier of the HP HPMOUSE.SYS mouse driver is installed.

Updating the Hewlett-Packard HPMOUSE.SYS mouse driver to version 6.25.04 or later corrects this problem. To receive an updated mouse driver, contact Hewlett-Packard at (800) 752-0900. Callers requesting an updated mouse driver may be directed to a local HP dealer who is responsible for distributing the Hewlett-Packard mouse driver.

Microsoft does not distribute HP mouse drivers.
