Including a Caret (^) in a Word Glossary Item Name

SUMMARY
Word accepts a glossary entry with a name that contains a caret (^).
If you display the glossary filenames, the entry appears with the caret. However, when inserting or clearing the entry from the glossary, the name is not found unless you omit the caret. For example, Word accepts an entry name such as “name^”. However, if you insert or clear the entry, Word only recognizes it as “name”.
Word treats the caret as a null character. The caret is not part of the glossary entry name. The purpose of the caret is to separate the entry name from the macro-key code which, in this case, was not added.
