SUMMARY

The mouse pointer is not visible in graphics mode while running Word version 5.00 in OS/2 protected mode. This is a limitation of Word, not OS/2.

To get the mouse pointer in graphics mode while running Word versions 3.x, 4.00, or 5.00 in the DOS versions 3.x (compatibility) box with an EGA or VGA card, make sure OS/2’s POINTDD.SYS and EGA.SYS are loaded into memory through the CONFIG.SYS file. EGA.SYS is needed to use the DOS versions 3.x box in EGA-emulation graphics modes, while POINTDD.SYS is the drawing component of the OS/2 mouse driver.

Expanded mouse support in OS/2 is under review and will be considered for inclusion in a future release. Microsoft will post new information here as it becomes available.
