The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY

A documentation error appears on page 391 of the “Reference to Microsoft Word” version 4.0 manual.

Word bases the initial full size of new document windows on the page size you specify in the Page Setup dialog box. Therefore, the full window size may not cover the entire width of the screen, especially on large monitors or if you are using a very small custom page size as the default.

On all monitors, clicking the zoom box for the first time resizes the full window to an alternate size. If you have not sized the window using the size box (in the lower-right corner), Word sizes and arranges the window in a preset alternate size and position based on the number of documents you have open. If you have sized and/or moved the window, Word alternates between the window size, based on the page size and the size and position you set.

The correct information appears in the ReadMe document on the Word 4.00 Program disk (the name of the file is “Word 4 ReadMe”).
