The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, version 2.0

SUMMARY

In a spreadsheet, Microsoft Works will read numbers between 10 and 24 followed by an “a” or a “p” as a time rather than as text. For example, Works reads 11a as 11:00am. Therefore, the cell will display the serial number equivalent to that time, .4583333.

To enter a number between 10 and 24 followed by a “p” or an “a” as a text label, precede it with a double quotation mark, as described on Page 214 of the “Using Microsoft Works” version 2.0 manual. For example, enter "11a to have 11a entered as text and displayed on the spreadsheet.

This behavior does not occur in Microsoft Works versions 3.0 and 4.0.
