SUMMARY

The Data Labels command does not label the data points in a pie chart. The labels for the sections in a pie chart are the same as their category names.

The Data Labels command is used to label the data points in a Y-series. Using Data Labels, you can display the value next to each data point (shown as markers or bars), or you can label the entire Y-series. Works uses the values in the spreadsheet range that you select to create labels.

MORE INFORMATION

To label the data points in a pie chart, do the following:

  1. Highlight the labels in the spreadsheet you want to use for the data labels.
  2. From the Data menu, choose X-Series.

The pie chart has the data labels and percentages outside each section of the pie chart. There is no way to remove the percentages from the labels.

To label a bar or a line chart, do the following:

  1. Select the range of cells containing the labels for the data points or the Y-series.
  2. From the Data menu, choose Data Labels.
  3. In the Series list box, select the Y-series to be labeled.
  4. Choose Create.
