SUMMARY
In the Microsoft Works for MS-DOS Database, you can accumulate the total for a field as the entries are made (a running total); however, the field that is to contain the running total must contain a formula that references itself.
For example, an imaginary database contains two fields titled “FIELD1” and “FIELD2”. To make FIELD2 contain a running total of all the values entered in FIELD1, in Database List View, enter the formula “=FIELD1+FIELD2” (without the quotation marks) into record 1 (the first row) of FIELD2. The result will be a running total that accumulates in FIELD2.
