Keypad “+”, "*“,”/“,”=" Gives Unexpected Results

SUMMARY
On a Macintosh Plus or Macintosh 512, certain key combinations may beep instead of performing the commands they have been assigned to in the Commands dialog box. For example, COMMAND+OPTION+PLUS (+) on the numeric keypad may not yield a cloverleaf cursor for the Assign To Key command; instead, it will just beep.
On the older Apple keyboards, the keypad keys plus (+), asterisk (*), forward slash (/), and equals (=) generate the same codes as SHIFT+ARROW keys. The new ADB keyboards have different key codes for those keys and can be differentiated from SHIFT+ARROW keys. On a Macintosh Plus, however, these cannot be differentiated.
On the older keyboards, originally there were no separate keys for the functions of addition, multiplication, division, and total. The ability to hold the SHIFT key in combination with the ARROW keys to produce these commands was added.
