Summary:

When plotting a very large Excel graph with a Hewlett-Packard (HP) E-size plotter, and the margins are set to less than the driver supports, the plotter will not print parts of the bottom, top, and left of the graph, including descenders on the text on the x axis, the “box” that Excel draws around the graph on the left, and the top of text at the top of the graph. This problem occurs because the HP plotter has a physical printable/plotable area.

Another example of this problem is shown by the HP LaserJet, which cannot print closer to the left and right margins than .25 inch. If your graph is large enough, some portions will print outside this printable area.

Workaround

Make the margins a little larger (one-tenth of an inch), plot again, and the LaserJet will successfully reproduce the entire graph.
