SUMMARY
The new features in the Microsoft Works version 2.00 Word Processor module are as follows:
Decimal and Center Tabs
The Word Processor now has four types of tabs: left, right, center, and decimal. To set tabs, click under the ruler – once for left, twice for right, three times for decimal, and four times for center tabs. To cycle through the tab types, repeatedly click an existing tab.
Multiple-Record Support
Print a series of database records side by side using the Multiple Labels command from the Edit menu. Side-by-side records are useful for columns or multiple-column labels.
Search for Tabs and Return Characters
Search and replace tab and return characters using buttons in the Find and Replace dialog boxes.
Spacing
The new Spacing command in the Format menu includes options for single, one-and-one-half, double, and six-lines-per-inch spacing. The six-lines-per-inch setting is used in combination with the other settings and is especially useful when working with preprinted forms.
Spelling Checker
Works includes an integrated speller that checks the spelling, suggests corrections, and replaces misspelled works. Its 60,000 word dictionary can be personalized by adding words that are commonly used in documents.
Rich Text Format Files
Import and export files with Microsoft Rich Text Format (RTF). RTF retains all formatting in a form used by many word-processing and page-layout programs on the Macintosh and the IBM PC.
