The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 1.x, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0

SUMMARY

In the Microsoft Works Database module, if you enter a 19-digit (in Works 4.0) or 17-digit (in Works 1.x, 2.0, and 3.0) or greater value in a database field with a field attribute(format) of Numeric with two decimal places, a “#Precision#” error is displayed in the field. This error message also appears if you enter a number that is greater than 9.99E+16.

If the number of decimal places in the Format Field dialog box (in Works version 4.0) or the Format Set Field Attributes dialog box (in Works 1.x, 2.0, and 3.0) is set to 4 digits, the limit is 14-digits before you receive an error message.

CORRUPT FILES ALSO CAUSE THIS PROBLEM

This problem can occur in the Spreadsheet module if a file is damaged, even though the cells are formatted as fixed or currency. To correct this problem, save the file in SYLK file format and reopen the file.
