PSS ID Number: Q37478 Article last modified on 04-20-1993

2.20 3.00 | 3.00 MS-DOS | OS/2

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft COBOL for MS-DOS, versions 2.2 and 3.0 - Microsoft COBOL for OS/2, version 3.0

Summary: Although Microsoft COBOL Version 3.0 includes TAPE as a reserved word, it is treated as a comment (i.e., it is not implemented). Microsoft COBOL Version 3.0 includes TAPE syntax to allow for source code transportability between Microsoft COBOL and mainframe COBOL. For customers who desire access to mainframe media, Flagstaff Engineering, a third-party vendor, provides a hardware and software interface between standard (800/1600/6250 b.p.i.) magnetic tapes and personal computers. Flagstaff provides callable .OBJ files to control and access a tape drive. You can obtain more information on this subject by calling Flagstaff Engineering at (602) 779-3341.
