The minimum system requirements for using Microsoft Works for MS-DOS versions 1.x, 2.0 and 3.0 are as follows:
Versions 1.0 and 1.05
- 384K memory
- MS-DOS version 2.0 or higher
- Two 360K drives or one 720K disk drive or a hard drive
- CGA, EGA, VGA, or Hercules graphics adapter card required for charting
Version 2.0
- IBM PC XT, AT, PS/2, or compatible computer
- 512K memory
- MS-DOS or PC-DOS version 2.0 or higher (version 3.1 or higher if on a networked workstation)
- Two 360K disk drives, one 720K disk drive, one 1.44 MB disk drive, or a hard drive (hard drive recommended)
- CGA, EGA, VGA, MCGA, Tandy 1000 Video Graphics or Hercules graphics adapter card required for charting and print preview
Version 3.0
- IBM PC XT, AT, PS/2, or compatible computer using an 8086 or higher processor
- 640K memory
- MS-DOS operating system version 3.0 or higher (version 3.1 or higher if on a networked workstation)
- one 720K disk drive, one 1.44 MB disk drive, one 1.2 MB disk drive, or a hard drive (hard drive recommended)
