SUMMARY

Microsoft Word for the Macintosh takes certain default values, or operating parameters, from the System file. If the System file has been localized for a given country, these values reflect that localization.

The default values include the following:

  • Date format
  • Time format
  • Negative sign convention (minus sign vs. parentheses)
  • Decimal point character
  • Thousands separator
  • List separator
  • Currency symbol
  • Metric/English measurement system
  • Keyboard information
