The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh versions 4.0, 5.0, and 5.1

SUMMARY

In Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, the New Paragraph With Same Style command (COMMAND+RETURN) inserts a paragraph mark after the insertion point. The new paragraph has the same style as the preceding paragraph even if a different style was specified for Next Style when the paragraph style was defined.

Note: To assign new key commands or add the New Paragraph With Same Style command to a menu, use the Commands dialog box. (In Word version 4.0 choose Commands from the Edit menu. In Word versions 5.0 or 5.1, choose Commands from the Tools menu.)

MORE INFORMATION

When you define a style, you can specify a Next Style. Each time you press RETURN after a style that has a Next Style specified, the style you selected for the next style will be applied. The New Paragraph With Same Style command is a way to override the Next Style option.

To define styles:

In Word versions 5.0 and 5.1, choose Style from the Format menu.

In Word version 4.0, choose Define Styles from the Format menu.
