SUMMARY

Saving a file in the format called “Text only with line breaks” will create an ASCII file with carriage returns at the end of each line of text.

This format option is new to Word version 5.00 and is similar to printing to a file with PLAIN.PRD in Word version 4.00 (set the top, bottom, left, and right margins to 0 and leave the page width set to the original text width).

Tab characters and indents will be replaced with spaces. The main purpose of this feature will be to create an ASCII file with the same visual layout as the original document, for use on electronic mail systems, and other read-only purposes.
