Creating Check Boxes with Insert Graphics in Word for Windows |

- Microsoft Word for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c, 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0c
One of the following procedures can be used to create check boxes.
Word for Windows, 2.0 and Later
Method 1
- Select a standard TrueType font such as Arial, Times New Roman, or Courier New. (Some other nondecorative fonts will also work, but you will need to test each.)
- Type in the ANSI character code for a check box by pressing and holding down the ALT key and typing the proper number-pad keys in sequence. ANSI codes that will produce an empty check box are:
Method 2
- From the Insert menu, select Symbol.
- From the Symbols From list, select Wingdings.
- Select the appropriate box, and the chosen symbol will be inserted at the insertion point position in the document.
Method 3
- From the Insert menu, choose Frame.
- Click and drag your mouse pointer to create and size a blank frame. The border is automatically formatted for you.
- To change the border, select the frame and choose Border from the Format border.
Word for Windows 1.0, 1.0, or 1.1a
- From the Insert menu, choose Picture and select New Picture.
- Click the picture to select it.
- Make the box smaller by dragging the frame's sizing handles.
- The new graphic will have a single frame. To change the frame or to make the box thicker, choose Picture from the Format menu.
Rather than re-creating a check box each time you need it, you can create check boxes quickly by making the check box a glossary entry and pasting it into text.
