Summary:

The RFTOWORD conversion utility provided with Microsoft Word versions 3.x does does not support conversion of IBM DisplayWrite 4 (version 1 or 2) or DisplayWrite 5 files to Word format. You may receive the error message “RF Structure Length Invalid” after entering the input (RFT) and output (Word) files to be used in the conversion process. The RFTOWORD conversion utility supplied with Word versions 3.x is designed to convert RFT files created with DisplayWrite 3.

The WORD_DCA conversion utility provided with Word version 4.00 can be used to convert DisplayWrite 4 (version 1) files to Word format and vice versa.

An application note titled “DCA File Conversion Utility” is available from Microsoft. The included WORD_DCA conversion utility provides improved conversions for customers using Word versions 3.x and Word version 4.00.
