The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for Windows versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.1a, 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0a-CD, 2.0b, 2.0c

When a file is saved as Text Only with Line Breaks, the line breaks are inserted at the end of each line.

After closing and reopening the document, the Save As Dialog box indicates that the file is now defined as Text Only, not Text Only with Line Breaks. The line breaks put in by the first save are still preserved.

The process of inserting a line break at the end of each line will usually only need to be performed on a document once. If necessary, change the file format back to text only with line breaks to repeat the process.
