Summary:

The “Microsoft Multiplan Addendum” states on page A49 that you can use your custom formats with other worksheets by saving them in the MP.INI file when you quit Multiplan. However, if you load a worksheet that was created prior to the creation of your custom formats and try to use your custom formats on this worksheet, the custom formats will not be available. Instead, only those formats that were available when the worksheet was originally created will be available.

Custom formats are stored in the MP.INI file as the manual states. However, these formats are only available when you are creating a new worksheet. With a new worksheet, all custom formats stored in the MP.INI file will be available for use with the worksheet. However, worksheet files that have been saved have their own format information in the file header. This information takes precedence over what is stored in the MP.INI file. Because of this, the custom formats stored in the MP.INI file are not available for use with worksheets that were created and stored prior to the creation of the custom formats.
