PSS ID Number: Q35243 Article last modified on 04-21-1993

The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft COBOL for MS-DOS and OS/2, versions 3.0 and 3.0a

Summary: Mixed-language animation does not work correctly in COBOL version 3.0 or 3.0a using the IANIM compiler directive and then linking to the external subprogram. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in versions 3.0 and 3.0a. This problem was corrected in Microsoft COBOL Professional Development System version 4.0 for MS-DOS and MS OS/2. To work around this problem, you can compile your program with the EANIM directive and then LINK with the /CO option. This will allow you to debug EXE files using Microsoft CodeView. Microsoft CodeView does not come with the COBOL 3.0 or 3.0a package, but it comes with the Microsoft Macro Assembler versions 5.x and certain other Microsoft language products. For more information on using COBOL version 3.0 or 3.0a and CodeView, query on the following words: COBOL and 3.00 and CodeView
