SYMPTOMS
For a large and a busy Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) Web site, stability issues and performance issues may occur. This is because of heap fragmentation and contention. You may see the following symptoms on the computer that is running MCMS 2001:
- Clients (Web browsers) report
In the IIS logs, most, if not all requests for ASP pages result in
ASP_0147 | Server_500_Error
.
- The CPU utilization of the server is very high, typically close to 100%.
- The site may not respond.
- There are more than 600 current connections to the Web server.
The memory usage on the Web server is at the maximum. You may receive
OUT OF MEMORY
errors in your event logs.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because of severe heap fragmentation and also because of contention on the MCMS Web server.
