SYMPTOMS

On a dual-monitor computer, a combo box drop down list may always appear on the primary monitor. This symptom may occur even if the combo box itself is placed on a secondary monitor.

This control feature is provided by the Fm20.dll file, and Fm20.dll was not designed to work with multiple monitors. The fix described in this article is a design change that is specific to only combo box drop down lists.

This fix may receive additional testing to further ensure product quality. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, Microsoft recommends that you wait for the next Office XP service pack that contains this fix.

To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the fix. For a complete list of Microsoft Product Support Services phone numbers and information about support costs, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Note In special cases, charges that are ordinarily incurred for support calls may be canceled if a Microsoft Support Professional determines that a specific update will resolve your problem.
