SYMPTOMS
When you are running the Windows 2000 File Replication service (FRS), FRS may assert with a "QKey != QUADZERO" error message. The following event is logged in the NTFRS event log:

The English version of this fix has the file attributes (or later) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in coordinated universal time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time tool in Control Panel.

After you install this hotfix, you must still perform a non-authoritative restoration for the replica set that experienced the problem. You must perform the non-authoritative restoration because the Inlog table for the replica set might still contain incorrect records. These incorrect records cause the Ntfrs service to continue to assert during the startup process. The non-authoritative restoration process rebuilds the Inlog table.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
