SYMPTOMS
You can load only 1,000 preloaded entries from an Lmhosts file into the NetBIOS name cache, even if you specify more than 1,000 entries. This problem occurs if you set the MaxPreLoadEntries registry value to a data value of more than 1,000 in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netbt\Parameters
CAUSE
Windows does not use the registry value but instead uses a default value of 1,000 for the maximum number of entries in the NetBIOS name cache.
