SYMPTOMS
If you try to disable the administrative shares on a Windows 2000-based cluster by changing the following registry values to 0 (zero), the default administrative shares on cluster disks are not disabled:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters\AutoShareServer
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\lanmanserver\parameters\AutoShareWks
CAUSE
When a cluster fails over, a shared disk is automatically shared as a hidden share by the cluster, even if the AutoShareServer registry value is set to 0 (zero).
RESOLUTION

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 4.
