Summary: Versions of FORTRAN-80 prior to Version 3.44 allowed you to write records greater than 128 bytes, but might not have allowed you to read them back in. Version 3.44 prevents writing more than 128 bytes to a record. Attempting this results in an “IT” (I/O transmission) error.
