SYMPTOMS
If you run Exchange 2000 Server Setup by using the /ForestPrep option, you may receive the following error message:
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if the default Active Directory Connector (ADC) policy is missing from the Active Directory Connections container of the Microsoft Exchange configuration container. The Microsoft Exchange configuration container is located in the Services node of the Active Directory Sites and Services snap-in.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, determine whether the ADC policy is installed. If it is not installed, remove and then reinstall the Microsoft ADC service to re-create the Microsoft Exchange configuration container and the default ADC policy.
To determine if the default ADC policy is installed, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Sites and Services.
- On the View menu, click Show Services Node.
- Expand Services, and then expand the Microsoft Exchange configuration container.
- Click the Active Directory Connections container.
If Default ADC Policy is not listed in the right pane, the policy is not installed.
