SYMPTOMS

After you select an icon for a new taskpad view in the MMC and restart your computer, the icon may not appear. To view this symptom:

  1. Log on as an administrator, and then start the MMC.
  2. Create a new taskpad view, select an icon for this view, and then save the console.
  3. Restart your computer, and then log on as a different user such as a different administrator or account operator.
  4. Open the console that you saved in step 2, and then note that the icon does not appear.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3.
