Event ID 7005 When You Use Sysprep.exe with the -mini Switch

SYMPTOMS


When you log on to your Windows XP-based computer for the first time after you run the sysprep.exe -mini, the following event may be logged in the Event log:

Event ID 7005

The LoadUserProfile call failed with the following error:
The device is not ready.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because you cannot load a user profile during the Mini Setup phase of Sysprep.

You can ignore the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section because it does not cause any problems on your computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, clear the Event logs before you load a user profile.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
