SUMMARY
This article describes how to create an authorized page warning. By using Windows 2000 Group Policy, you can add a legal notice to users who attempt to gain access to your systems. The legal notice provides information about network policies to users who log on to your systems. The notice also includes information about possible incident handling for unauthorized network usage. You can configure authorized page warnings for site, domain, organization unit, or local group policies.

How to Create an Authorized Page Warning
- On the Administrative Tools menu, click Active Directory Users and Computers.
- Expand your domain, right-click the organizational unit to which you want to add the authorized page warning, and then click Properties.
- Click the Group Policy tab.
- If there is an existing Group Policy object (GPO), click that object, and then click Edit. If there are no GPOs for the organizational unit, click New, type the name of the new GPO, and then click Edit.
- Expand the Computer Configuration node, the Windows Settings node, the Security Settings node, and the Local Policies node.
- Click the Security Options node.
- In the right pane in the console, double-click the Message title for users who attempt to log on entry.
- Select the Define this policy setting check box. Type the text that you want to appear on the title bar of the Authorized Page Warning dialog box, and then click OK.
- Double-click the Message text for users who attempt to log on entry.
- Select the Define this policy setting check box. Type the text that you want to appear in the body of the Authorized Page Warning dialog box, and then click OK.
- Close the Group Policy window, the OU Properties dialog box, and the Active Directory Users and Computers console.
- Start a command prompt, type secedit /refreshpolicy MACHINE_POLICY, and then press ENTER.
- Restart a computer in the organizational unit. The Authorized Page Warning dialog box appears after you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE.
Troubleshooting
It is important to include an authorized page warning because the logon dialog box does not contain information about system and network policies for unauthorized network access.
