SYMPTOMS
After you upgrade a computer that has Bluetooth hardware and drivers installed, your Bluetooth wireless device may no longer function. Windows XP Device Manager shows the device with an exclamation point, indicating a problem with the device.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because Windows XP does not include native support for Bluetooth wireless devices.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, make sure that Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows XP is installed, and then contact the manufacturer of your computer or your Bluetooth device for information about how to obtain the update for Windows XP SP1 that adds native support for Bluetooth wireless technology.
To determine if you have SP1 installed, right-click My Computer and then click Properties. If "Service Pack 1" is not listed under System, install SP1.
