SYMPTOMS
When you insert a MIDI sound in a PowerPoint presentation, and set it to loop continuously, the sound only plays once and then stops, regardless of the Stop Playing or Loop Until Stopped settings.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, convert the MIDI file to any other sound format that is supported by PowerPoint (AIFF, WAV, or Macintosh Sound). You can also convert it to QuickTime (Movie) or Audio-Video Interleaved (AVI) format; however, you will have to manually advance your slides when using the QuickTime player. Slides only advance automatically after the sound file is done playing.
You can use a third-party sound conversion program to convert MIDI files to a compatible format for looping. Check your local retail store or the Internet for suitable sound file converters.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
