SUMMARY

This article explains how to set up a Hotmail account in Outlook Express for the Macintosh.

MORE INFORMATION

  1. Open Outlook Express.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
  3. Click New.
  4. Type in the display name (the name you want others to see on the From line), and then press ENTER.
  5. Type in your Hotmail e-mail address. Use the following format:

    username@hotmail.com

    Press ENTER.
  6. Type in your account ID and password, and then press ENTER. Your account ID is usually the part of the e-mail address before the at (@) sign.
  7. Type in a name for the account, and then press ENTER.

After you press ENTER on the last step, you will see a new icon on your Folders list, and when you click this folder, you should be able to download the mail in your Hotmail inbox.

When you add an account, there is no option to set up Outlook Express to download mail from an existing Hotmail account.
