XADM: Creating a Secondary E-mail Address Overwrites Primary E-mail Address on Mail-Enabled User

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create a secondary e-mail address for a mail-enabled user, the primary address may be overwritten by the secondary e-mail address.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, manually add a secondary e-mail address to a mail-enabled user. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Start the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in.
  2. Right-click the mail-enabled user and click Properties.
  3. Click the E-mail Addresses tab.
  4. Click the New button and enter your secondary address type.
  5. Enter the new address.
