SYMPTOMS

When your computer has been idle for an amount of time that is sufficient for it to enter Hibernate or Standby mode, or if you manually enter Hibernate or Standby mode, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

  • Your computer may not enter Standby mode.
  • Your computer attempts to enter Hibernate or Standby mode, but may immediately return from Hibernate or Standby mode.
  • You may receive the following error message:

Your computer cannot hibernate or standby because the Creative Modem Blaster USB DE5670 cannot enter into a low-power state.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you are using a Creative Modem Blaster USB DE5670 modem. Hibernation and Standby mode depend on the ability of all devices and device drivers in the computer to support S1-S4 power states. If one or more devices or device drivers do not support low-power states, the computer cannot enter Hibernate or Standby mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Creative Labs to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue, disable the Creative Modem Blaster USB DE5670:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click System, and then click the Device Manager tab.
  3. Double-click the Modem branch to expand it, click Creative Modem Blaster USB DE5670, and then click Properties.
  4. Click to select the Disable in this hardware profile check box, click OK, and then click Close.

NOTE: If you are able to obtain and install an updated driver that resolves this issue, you can re-enable the modem by repeating the preceding procedure, but click to clear the Disable in this hardware profile check box in the final step and restart your computer.
