SYMPTOMS
When you use the resiliency feature of Office 2000 and run Office 2000 from a network location, backup servers that are configured to run in the event that the primary server is unavailable may not be used by clients when the primary server is unavailable.
CAUSE
This is a bug in the Windows Installer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

The English version of this fix should have the following file attributes or later:

STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 2.
MORE INFORMATION
If you do not want to use the fix for this bug, you can log off and log back on the computer. Logging off and logging back on allows Office 2000 to run properly from a backup Office 2000 installation on the network when the primary is unavailable.
