APPLIES TO

This article was previously published under Q264796

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1/1a (SR-1/SR-1a), versions of Outlook that use Exchange client extensions still cause access violations when the Outlook View control is accessed through the user interface.

CAUSE

There is either a third-party add-in that is causing the access violation, or you installed the Outlook View control alone or in conjunction with the Digital Dashboard Starter Kit or the Team Folders Wizard.

RESOLUTION

Verify that there are no conflicting add-ins in the Outlook Add-In Manager:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Other tab, click Advanced Options.
  3. Click Add-In Manager, and then note the add-ins that are selected.
  4. Click COM Add-Ins, and then note the add-ins that are selected.

Standard Outlook add-ins include:

Net Folders
NetMeeting Extensions
Delegate Access
Deleted Item Recovery
Exchange Extensions commands
Exchange Extensions property pages
Server Scripting
Outlook Synchronization

Standard Outlook COM add-ins include:

Outlook Sync
Outlook Backup Addin

To test which add-in is causing the access violation, click to clear the check box for an add-in, and then restart Outlook. If you do not see the same behavior, that add-in is causing the problem. If you do see the same behavior, test each add-in until you do not see the same behavior when you start Outlook.
