SYMPTOMS

When a program accesses files by using File Control Blocks (FCBs), memory may be leaked each time the program closes a file. Over time, this can cause low-memory error messages.

RESOLUTION

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, reboot the computer to retrieve the memory.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack .
