This article was previously published under Q261109

SYMPTOMS

When you use Visual J++ 6.0 to build a Component Services (COM+) component that was created with the Visual J++ 6.0 COM+ Wizard (supplied as part of the Platform SDK), the COM+ component builds correctly the first time but fails on subsequent rebuilds with the following error message:

Solution Update Failed.

CAUSE

This problem is caused by the build utility Vjreg.exe creating the wrong registry entries for the COM+ component.

RESOLUTION

This problem has been fixed with the version of the Vjreg.exe file that is included with the latest service pack for Visual Studio. Installing the latest service pack for Visual Studio updates your Visual J++ installation with the new version of Vjreg.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This bug was corrected in the latest service pack for Visual Studio 6.0.
