FIX: OLAP Server may not use aggregations even when they exist

Article ID: 259677

Article Last Modified on 7/7/2006

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services

This article was previously published under Q259677

BUG #: 7709(plato7x)

SYMPTOMS

OLAP Server does not always use aggregations (even when they exist) on a multi-partitioned cube. Instead, OLAP Server sends SQL queries to the fact level records. This behavior is noticed when queries refer to data across more than one partition. The effect of this behavior is reduced query performance when the cube contains more than one partition and queries refer to data from more than one partition.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 3 for Microsoft SQL Server OLAP Services version 7.0. For information about how to download and install the latest SQL Server OLAP Services Service Pack, see the following Microsoft Web site:
