SYMPTOMS
If clustering is used on Windows 2000 Advanced Server, disks without signatures may not be available.
CAUSE
The cluster disk driver hides any disks without signatures from the rest of the operating system.
RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.
MORE INFORMATION
For most disks, Windows 2000 writes a signature automatically and this issue should not arise. Exceptions include any media to which a signature cannot be written, such as read-only media.
