SYMPTOMS

16-bit PC CARD (PCMCIA) PCI devices that rely on interrupt sharing, such as SCM Microsystems PC Card readers, may not work on Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

The PC Card driver has been modified to allow 16-bit PC Cards to use shared PCI interrupts.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was first corrected in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1.

When the fix is installed via the hotfix installer, it would add the following registry entry. No user invention is needed.
