XWEB: Cursor Displays Hourglass in Folder List After Unsuccessful Delete

Article ID: 256486

Article Last Modified on 2/21/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q256486

SYMPTOMS

In Exchange 2000 Server Outlook Web Access (OWA) with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, when you attempt to delete a public folder that you do not have permission to delete, you will first receive the following error message

Login failed or cancelled

followed by an authentication dialog box. After you click Cancel, when you move the mouse over white space on the folder list pane, the cursor will appear as an hourglass, the Busy icon.

This may cause confusion as to whether or not the application is busy.

WORKAROUND

Although the Busy icon is present, the application is not busy and the functionality of the cursor remains correct even though it appears as the hourglass.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
