XWEB: Appointment Is Displayed as a Meeting if You Use Internet Explorer 5 to Cancel Invitations

Article ID: 256451

Article Last Modified on 2/21/2007

APPLIES TO

  • Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Standard Edition

This article was previously published under Q256451

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 with Exchange 2000 Server Outlook Web Access (OWA) to create a meeting request and then cancel the invitations, Internet Explorer 5 displays the appointment as a meeting when you re-open the item.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

The following scenario outlines the problem: User1 creates a meeting request, adds User2 to the Required field and then resolves the name. User1 then decides not to make this a meeting request and instead creates an appointment. User1 clicks the Cancel Invitation button on the meeting request toolbar, and then clicks the Save and Close button to save the appointment. When User1 re-opens the appointment, it is displayed as a meeting, and displays User2 in the Required field.

NOTE: If User1 opens the same appointment with a browser other than Internet Explorer 5, the removed attendee is still displayed in the Required field, but only Internet Explorer 5 actually produces the problem.
