This article discusses a Beta test product that is not yet announced or released publicly by Microsoft. Please feel free to familiarize yourself with this product, test it, and report problems to Microsoft.

SYMPTOMS

If you use Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Outlook Web Access (OWA) with Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 to create a new appointment, the following behavior occurs:

When you click Invite Attendees and then click the Save button on the toolbar, the appointment is saved but the form window remains open.

RESOLUTION

Click the Save button on the toolbar to properly save the appointment, and then close the window.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.

MORE INFORMATION

If you use Outlook Web Access with a version of Internet Explorer earlier than 5.0, or with Netscape Navigator, and you click the Save button on the toolbar, the appointment is saved and the window is closed. This behavior is inconsistent with that of Internet Explorer 5.0 and may confuse users when they switch between browsers. In addition, the user may be unsure about whether the appointment has been properly saved in Internet Explorer 5.0 and may be reluctant to close the new appointment window.
