SYMPTOMS
The status of a monitored server remains in an Available state with databases dismounted.
CAUSE
Exchange 2000 checks for status of the information store service rather than the databases state.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft 2000 Server.

To view the status of an Exchange 2000 server:
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click System Manager.
- Navigate to and expand the Monitoring and Status object.
- Click the Status folder, and then view the Status column in the Preview pane.
